CHANDRA TAL LAKE -- LAKE OF THE MOON

Himalayan ranges have everything for everyone, for the trekkers, the moderate and the tough trekking ones, to the peaks like Mount Everest and Kanchenjunga, for the rock climbers.
The lush valleys, the flora and fauna, the cool air, the tea plantations, the nature has opened it’s treasures to the commoners to enjoy and spend the memorable days here. Trekking to Chandra Tal Lake, in local language Lake of the Moon is a very popular trek from Manali a very interesting hill station in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh.
The trekking is partially motorable starting from Delhi, the visitor has to reach Manali, 550 kms, and the hilly region takes quite a time, 14 hours. From Manali drive to Batal thru Rohtang Pass 4000 mts, and come to Chandra Valley and onto Batal.
Batal is the starting point for Kunzum La Pass. Spend the night in tent to make your body comfortable with high altitude. The trek from Batal to Chandra Tal is the trek which can be termed as comfortable trek along with motorable trek.
But if you want the real thrill you must walk down. Here the tourists shall have the breath taking view of Mulkilla, Tara Pahar and Tala Giri all above 6000 mts. Chandra Tal Lake has clear and cool water. The trekkers may swim here and enjoy the touch of fresh Himalayan water.
From Chandra Tal the tourist may return or proceed to yet hard core trekking of Tokpo Gongma
